James Kondo is co-chair of SocialEmergence.org, a communications platform and network tool designed to enable people in some of the most impoverished parts of the world to overcome the dual barriers of illiteracy and poor connectivity.

Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Twitter Inc. and Chairman of Twitter Japan. James Kondo is also Visiting Professor at Hitotsubashi University, Visiting Scientist at the Laboratory of Social Machines at MIT Media Lab, and President of Rebuild Japan Initiative Foundation.

Previously, Kondo was Special Adviser to the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan, at the University of Tokyo, and a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

He studied at Brown University, graduated from Keio University and Harvard Business School, and was a Yale World Fellow. He has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and an Asia21 Fellow by Asia Society.
