Date: Sunday, 4 September 2016, 12:00 am to Thursday, 8 September 2016, 12:00 am

From 4 to 8 September, 25 former, current, and future Richard von Weizsäcker Fellows of the Robert Bosch Academy will participate in the Richard von Weizsäcker Forum: Germany and the Refugee Story, which will take them to numerous site-visits, round-table meetings and conversations with leading politicians, public administrators, lawyers, members of relevant civil society institutions and volunteers in Berlin, Saxony, Cologne and Stuttgart.

The aim of the forum is to provide the Richard von Weizsäcker Fellows with a deeper understanding of Germany’s management of one of the greatest challenges of our time – both in the short and the long term. During the forum, the Fellows will look at the methods and practices of the German "Willkommenskultur" of providing shelter, food and first aid for refugees. We will also discuss issues related to the integration of refugees in the German social security system, the labor market, schooling, health, etc.; and we will learn about the rising extremism inside Germany, the threat posed terrorism and how it is perceived by the Germans, and about the relations of Germany with its EU partners in the context of the crisis.

Registration for this event is closed.
