About

Filmed over ten years, FROM HERE is the hopeful story of Tania, Sonny, Miman and Akim – artists and activists coming of age in Berlin and New York who share the experience of being questioned about where they are “really from.” As the US and Germany grapple with racism, nationalism, and the fear of a diverse society, the protagonists face important turning points in their lives: fighting for citizenship, starting families, finding space for creative expression, and fighting for more inclusive societies. Please join us for this special occasion.

We will screen the film over snacks and drinks. Afterwards we invite you to a conversation with film director Christina Antonakos-Wallace, activist & protagonist Miman Jasarovski, and award-winning writer and Fellow of the Robert Bosch Academy Ece Temelkuran. Together they will explore both the personal and political implications of the film on the themes of migration politics, democracy, and belonging.

Following the conversation, we will hold a networking reception with refreshments.

Please note that the film is both in English and German with subtitles, the discussion will be held in English with German translation available.

This is a joint event of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and With Wings and Roots.

Registration for this event is closed.
