About:
Migration is a constant in human history, yet migration movements are constantly changing. In arriving communities and immigration societies around the world, building a new life for those with migration histories becomes a challenge, hindering their ability to participate in society on equal terms. A plethora of innovative initiatives is needed to collectively shape local life, taking into account the needs, perspectives, and potential of all members of society.
An important part of this is the agency and support of the migrant civil society supported by collective efforts to empower and amplify often marginalized social groups, women, and mothers. It is precisely these groups that serve as catalysts for addressing pressing social issues, including education, literacy, health, and leadership.
The film screening of "The Neighborhood Storyteller" and the subsequent panel discussion aim to identify and sharpen frameworks and policies that underpin the work of civil society and marginalized groups. Through critical dialogue and analysis, the aim is to identify strategies conducive to amplifying the voices of communities and fostering inclusive societal structures that acknowledge and leverage the richness of diversity in arriving communities and immigration societies.
