What is the relevance of art and literature in times of rupture? Does a free space for the arts still exist?

These questions will form the foundation for the Robert Bosch Academy's next Academy Long Table, a curated dinner discussion hosted by Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow Unni Karunakara with input from Lavinia Frey (Director, International Literature Festival Berlin) and Jeet Thayil (Curator in Residence, ilb).

Academy Long Tables provide a space for candid conversation on complex topics over dinner. Guests bring unique perspectives and experiences to the table and the conversation cuts across international and disciplinary lines.

Academy Long Tables are by invitation only and are held under the Chatham House Rule. This event will be held in English.

About the Host and Speakers

Lavinia Frey is a cultural manager and has headed the Berlin International Literature Festival since 2023. 

Jeet Thayil is a poet, novelist, musician, and publisher. He has been named Curator in Residence of the 26th Berlin International Literature Festival.

Unni Karunakara is a Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy. He was the International President of Doctors Without Borders (2010–2013) and a Senior Fellow at Yale University.
