The level of disorder in Europe is rising to a critical point. The end of the Cold War has left a vacuum which is revealing itself more than ever in the wake of the crisis with Russia and armed conflict in the Ukraine or a possible Greek exit from the Eurozone. At the same time, Germany is torn between domestic demands for restraint and the increasing responsibilities of European leadership. How are European leaders dealing with the EU’s security issues and geopolitical challenges? What will become of the European Union? What could a new balance of European powers look like?

Together with our Richard von Weizsäcker Fellows François Heisbourg, Ivan Krastev and Fyodor Lukyanov as well as Norbert Röttgen, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the German Bundestag, we would like to spend an evening debate on the current challenges unraveling the European order.

Speakers:

François Heisbourg
