Galip Dalay

Galip Dalay is an IPC – Mercator Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, research director at Al Sharq Forum, and non-resident fellow at Brookings Institution, Doha Centre.

Prior to that, he was visiting fellow at SWP and political researcher at SETA Foundation in Ankara. In 2017, Dalay worked as guest scholar at the Institute for Human Science (IWM) in Vienna.

His current research focuses on the question of regionalism and regional Order in the Middle East, Turkish politics, Turkish foreign policy, regional Kurdish politics, Middle East politics with a particular focus on Syria, Iraq and Iran, and history and politics of Turkish - Western/European relations.

Dalay’s pieces and analysis have appeared on Foreign Affairs, Al Jazeera, Open Democracy, Middle East Eye, Huffington Post, The World Politics Review, and Fair Observer.

After his undergraduate studies at Istanbul University and a Master at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Dalay joined the Ph.D. program in International Relations at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara.
