About the event
With the Ukrainian crisis, Russia has put a stop to the attempts it made over the last 25 years to become part of an "extended West" or "Wider Europe." Despite obvious differences between Russian presidents, the conceptual course on "integration" remained unchallenged. Ukraine not only reshuffled Russian relations with the West, but also shaped a different perception of priorities both in the Russian establishment and society. The previous chapter of "Europeanization," which was seen as a strategic vision after the collapse of the USSR, has now turned into a deliberate distancing from Europe as a model.

During the Lunch Talk, Fyodor Lukyanov and Professor Alexey Miller will present a report that they co-authored together with other Russian intellectuals. The report analyses the new stance of Russia vis-à-vis Europe and the West and provides guidelines for the development in the next five years.
